FAS806 – COLLECTIVE HEALTH BASES (60 hours, compulsory)

It discusses and contextualizes principles, theoretical and historical bases of collective health field. Historical evolution of health policies in Brazil and the constitution of the Unified Health System (principles, guidelines, management and funding) are studied.

FAS817 – MEDICINES POLICIES AND PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANCE (45 hours, compulsory)

It discusses historical evolution of medicines policies in Brazil (principles, guidelines, management and funding) and legal bases and stages of Pharmaceutical Assistance organization.

FAS819 – WORKSHOP IN COLLECTIVE HEALTH AND PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANCE I (30 hours, compulsory)

Presentation of seminars related to relevant research topics in Collective Health and Pharmaceutical Assistance, presented by invited speakers and students of Postgraduate Course in Collective Health and – Master and Doctorate, dealing the objectives, methods and results related to their final work project.

FAS820 – WORKSHOP IN COLLECTIVE HEALTH AND PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANCE II (30 hours, compulsory)

EST814 – BIOSTATISTICS PRINCIPLES (60 hours, optional)

Presents basics concepts and methods of Statistics through descriptive study of data, elements of probability and statistical inference. The course discusses how Statistics can help solving problems in biological area.

EST815 – ADVANCED STATISTICAL METHODS IN EPIDEMIOLOGY (75 hours, optional)

It studies the main statistical techniques of analysis and data modeling in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics.

FAS807 – BIOSTATISTICS APPLIED TO DRUG STUDIES (60 hours, optional)

It studies principles, conceptual bases, objectives and use of Biostatistics in health and scientific research, emphasizing on pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics.

FAS808 – EPIDEMIOLOGY (60 hours, optional)

Studies basics concepts and fundamentals of epidemiological reasoning, main indicators used in Collective Health and processes of epidemiological evidence analysis, traditional models of research in the area and the application of these methodological proposals for different approaches to epidemiology object.

FAS809 – STUDIES IN PHARMACEUTICAL CARE (45 hours, optional)

It discusses, in depth, philosophical basis, methodological and managements bases of the practice of pharmaceutical care focusing the scientific research in the evaluation of its humanistic, economic, clinical and administrative results.

FAS810 – PHARMACOKINETICS APPLIED TO THE STUDY OF ADVERSE DRUG EVENTS (30 hours, optional)

It addresses conceptual aspects of drug kinetics in body and its implications in developing and optimizing therapeutic regimens and clinical consequences of these processes, especially in the development of Adverse Drug Events (ADE).

FAS811 – PHARMACOECONOMICS (30 hours, optional)

It studies basic concepts in pharmacoeconomics, addresses regulation and financing of medicines in health systems, presents methods of economic evaluation of medicines (EEM) and their application in medicines management in health system.

FAS812 – HEALTH SURVEILLANCE AND PHARMACOVIGILANCE (30 hours, optional)

Discusses the policy of Sanitary Surveillance of Medicines in the Country. Comprehension of the roles of health professionals in drug surveillance and national and international entities that control the registration, development and use of drugs.

FAS813 – PHYTOTHERAPICS (30 hours, optional)

It addresses aspects related to the promotion of rational use of medicinal plants and phytotherapics. Emphasizes legal, ethical, new trends and public, national and foreign policies aspects. It also presents scientific methods that transform plants into medicines, and their rational use in public health. It discusses the importance of Brazilian biodiversity and associated traditions. Additionally, discusses difficulties for the implantation of phytotherapy programs in the country and the ways to face problems.

FAS814 – SCIENTIFIC METHODS (45 hours, optional)

It studies conceptual and practical bases of scientific knowledge and quantitative scientific investigation, of structuring research projects and of the preparation and reading of scientific articles.

FAS815 – ADVANCED METHODS IN PHARMACOECONOMICS (60 hours, optional)

The course studies the main methods of economic evaluation of medicines (EEM) and its application in medicines management in health system. It addresses modeling techniques and main aspects of decision models for economic evaluation. Also, discusses the evaluation process of financial consequences by adopting a new health technology.

FAS816 – QUALITATIVE METHODS OF RESEARCH IN HEALTH (45 hours, optional)

Presents fundamentals of qualitative research, contrasting them with those of quantitative research. It studies the main methodological approaches and techniques of data collection used in qualitative health research.

FAS818 – ADVERSE DRUGS REACTIONS (30 hours, optional)

It studies the concepts, mechanisms, signs and symptoms of adverse reactions and adverse events of medications. The course introduces methods for identification of Adverse Drug Events in Hospitals.

FAS821 – TOPICS ON COLLECTIVE HEALTH AND PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANCE I (15 hours, optional)

Advanced and updated study of issues related to collective health and pharmaceutical assistance, aiming a complementary theoretical training of master’s and doctoral students in the area.

FAS822 – TOPICS ON COLLECTIVE HEALTH AND PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANCE II (30 hours, optional)

Advanced and updated study of issues related to collective health and pharmaceutical assistance, aiming a complementary theoretical training of master’s and doctoral students in the area.

FAS823 – TOPICS ON COLLECTIVE HEALTH AND PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANCE III (45 hours, optional)

Advanced and updated study of issues related to collective health and pharmaceutical assistance, aiming a complementary theoretical training of master’s and doctoral students in the area.

FAS824 – USE OF INFORMATICS IN PHARMACOEPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES (60 hours, optional)

It uses public domain software in development of pharmacoepidemiological studies, allowing the construction, reading and administration of databases, in addition to statistical applications.

The course develops the following skills:

a) Elaborate and enter a research questionnaire in word processor

b) Feed database through a questionnaire, with control and validation of data

c) Select records, create new variables, recode and manipulate data

d) Import and export data to/from other systems

e) Analyze data, with a pharmacoepidemiological approach, producing frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, statistical tests, risk estimation, linear and logistic regression

f) Describe results.

MPS807 – METHODS IN EPIDEMIOLOGY (75 hours, optional)

Planning of epidemiological studies. Research strategies. Methods of sampling and calculation of sample sizes for different types of analytical studies. Planning of case-control studies: selection of cases and controls, main sources of bias, options for pairing, analysis. Planning of cohort studies: types of cohort studies and main sources of bias, analysis. Cross-sectional and ecological studies are also addressed. The analytical approach includes effect modification, interaction, confounding variables, bias. Inference in epidemiology. Non-multivariate adjustment models (Mantel-Haenzel, Direct and indirect adjustment) and multivariate (logistic regression, linear regression, Cox regression).
